Royal Mail Franking Machine Prices for 2014

envelopes

On March 31st 2014 Royal Mail increased prices for most services. Businesses that use franking machines will be affected by these changes as well. See updated rates below.

Royal Mail has once again changed its pricing system. Postal rates have gone up and there are some revamps in the company’s postal delivery system as well.

The main changes to take note of are:

  • Mailmark™ enabled franking machines will now enjoy savings of 1p per 1st class letter and 2p per 2nd class letter sent over the already low prices of franked mail (see below).
  • Letters to Europe can now be sent for a flat fee of 85p per letter.
  • The continuing switch from red to blue ink for for Smart-enabled franking machines.
  • Postal rates for most services have gone up, and franking prices will be affected too. (see below):

For the first time ever, Mailmark™ enabled franking machines will enjoy a price break on some services over and above the savings seen on the low prices already enjoyed by franking machine users. Right now savings include sending letters up to 100g, large letters up to 750g, and Royal Mail Signed For™ all other prices are as seen below.

Ink Color

In 2013, Royal Mail announced that a change in ink colour applied to all users of SMART franking machines. They will be required to start using blue ink once their red ink is used up.

Royal Mail has assured SMART franking machine users that there will be no need to buy new franking machines and that it is working closely with SMART franking machine manufacturers on implementing this change as smoothly as possible.

New Prices

Prices for regular postage stamps will also be increasing on March 31st along with those for franked items. The good news, however, is that you will still enjoy significant savings as franking till costs a lot less than the stamped and online options.
